My iPhone touchscreen died!
Hardware, Personal 3 Comments »My iPhone touchscreen died… well only the lower 1/3, but that’s a very important area on an iPhone! It happened one morning as I was using the iPod on my iPhone. I was watching the Steve Jobs and Bill Gates at D5 video and the phone crashed. =:o I rebooted to find that the lower 1/3 of the touch screen didn’t function any longer. So I did a soft reset. nada. I did a hard reset, wiping all info on the phone. nada. So I do several More hard resets using different reset options in iTunes (the beta tester in me) and still nothing.
I did everything the Apple Support site mentioned. Everything.
At this point I’m freaking out wondering how I’m going to function without my iPhone. Time to visit Apple. I log on to the Apple site and sign up for time with a Mac Genius at the Apple store in Aspen Grove. At the Aspen Grove Apple Store I was really stoked on the Genius’s that helped me out. I’ve heard they can be a little rough on some folks since they’re pretty “l33tD00d5″ when it comes to Mac Support, but hell, I know just about all they do when it comes to Mac Support, (I’ve studied all the Genius material guys and I’ve been a user/fixer forever), so maybe the intimidation factor for the average user isn’t there for me? Whatever.
So, the Genius takes my phone does a physical exam behind the genius curtain/door and agrees with me that it’s not something I did that broke my iPhone. He said it’s something that’s under warrantee and they have to repair it offsite. Ship it out of state… “Oh great! This will probably take a month to get done”, I’m thinking, “and what am I supposed to do about not having a phone?” He then offers me to set up a temporary iPhone for $30 to use while mine is out. Yes! Perfect! He sets up the loaner iPhone and I’m off. All this in less then 30 minutes. Very cool!
I got a call about 4 days later to come and pick up my iPhone at the Aspen Grove Apple Store and wouldn’t you know it, it’s a brand new iPhone! It’s the second new iPhone I’ve owned in 2 months! LOL Nothing has gone wrong with this iPhone and I can’t rave enough about the great service I got at the Aspen Grove Apple Store, since it wasn’t always like that there. ahem.
Thanks Aspen Grove Apple Store Genius Bar!
Thanks Apple!
I wouldn’t do what I do without you guys.
