Apple iWatch

Personal, Hardware No Comments »

I’ve been thinking lately about the cool factor of an Apple iWatch. I got a white and gold Casio G-Shock Limited Edition watch for Christmas and it’s beautiful, the only problem is that it’s just a watch. I think it would be awesome for Apple to develop an iWatch that looks like my white G-Shock with built in video iPod capabilities. I’d buy one that’s for sure.

iPhone Liberation/Mods

Personal, Hardware, Software, iPhone No Comments »

Although I haven’t tried moding my own iPhone, I hear it can be a very liberating experience for your iPhone. So, in the spirit of iPhone liberation here are some sites that can help with all your iPhone liberation needs.

Have fun liberating your iPhone and if you brick it don’t come crying to me! ;-)

My iPhone touchscreen died!

Personal, Hardware 3 Comments »

My iPhone touchscreen died… well only the lower 1/3, but that’s a very important area on an iPhone! It happened one morning as I was using the iPod on my iPhone. I was watching the Steve Jobs and Bill Gates at D5 video and the phone crashed. =:o I rebooted to find that the lower 1/3 of the touch screen didn’t function any longer. So I did a soft reset. nada. I did a hard reset, wiping all info on the phone. nada. So I do several More hard resets using different reset options in iTunes (the beta tester in me) and still nothing.

I did everything the Apple Support site mentioned. Everything.

At this point I’m freaking out wondering how I’m going to function without my iPhone. Time to visit Apple. I log on to the Apple site and sign up for time with a Mac Genius at the Apple store in Aspen Grove. At the Aspen Grove Apple Store I was really stoked on the Genius’s that helped me out. I’ve heard they can be a little rough on some folks since they’re pretty “l33tD00d5″ when it comes to Mac Support, but hell, I know just about all they do when it comes to Mac Support, (I’ve studied all the Genius material guys and I’ve been a user/fixer forever), so maybe the intimidation factor for the average user isn’t there for me? Whatever.

So, the Genius takes my phone does a physical exam behind the genius curtain/door and agrees with me that it’s not something I did that broke my iPhone. He said it’s something that’s under warrantee and they have to repair it offsite. Ship it out of state… “Oh great! This will probably take a month to get done”, I’m thinking, “and what am I supposed to do about not having a phone?” He then offers me to set up a temporary iPhone for $30 to use while mine is out. Yes! Perfect! He sets up the loaner iPhone and I’m off. All this in less then 30 minutes. Very cool!

I got a call about 4 days later to come and pick up my iPhone at the Aspen Grove Apple Store and wouldn’t you know it, it’s a brand new iPhone! It’s the second new iPhone I’ve owned in 2 months! LOL Nothing has gone wrong with this iPhone and I can’t rave enough about the great service I got at the Aspen Grove Apple Store, since it wasn’t always like that there. ahem.

Thanks Aspen Grove Apple Store Genius Bar!

Thanks Apple!

I wouldn’t do what I do without you guys.

2 new iPhones

I’m glad to announce the introduction of two new iPhones to our family. I got mine first, in trade for some PSD to xhtml work I did for a NewLeaders project and activated it and I could see the yearning in my wife’s eyes to have and hold her very own so we got her one too. We both think it’s the coolest gadget we’ve ever owned. We could never go back to having a standard cell phone. That would be like going back to the stone ages. Thanks Apple for your great products!

iPod Overlay

Personal, Hardware No Comments »

I bought my second macally Clear Protective Overlay today to shield my 80GB iPod’s delicate surface from the abuse in takes whilst penetrating my pocket as well as the many various surface landings it encounters. I’ve used other cases and protective agents but I just hate the added bulk that comes along with using them since the iPod’s form factor is perfect the way it is and I don’t want to mess with perfection… Of course, I’d prefer to be able to use my iPod without any protection since their’s so much more digital feedback involved in the whole experience. ahem. I recommend this overlay to anyone with a Big iPod. Milage may very.

I got a black Mac Book!

Hardware No Comments »

Today I got a black Mac Book! My buddy Tai hooked me up with it. He was the only owner so I know it’s been taken care of. I love it. It’s perfect for me. The reason I needed a new Mac is because my G4 dual 1GHz, upgraded from a G4 450 several years ago, which has been my design partner since January 2001, gasp!, is on it’s way to greener pastures. I could have possibly nursed it along for a while longer by upgrading to yet another hard drive set, video card, etc. but why? I’m over having it crash all the time and throwing money at every problem I encounter. I’m done with it and moving on. I’m STOKED!

I got an iPod!

I’ve been wanting an iPod for years. I remember when they were just a rumor on Mac sites and then seeing the first real live versions and wanting one so bad. After seeing the 80GB model that has support for features like movies, video podcasts, etc. I had to have one. I couldn’t hold out any longer. I’d been working hard to save for one for a long time and every time I thought I might be able to get one a “life expense” would sideline my purchase. Today I got one! It’s the 80GB one and it’s black of course! I couldn’t be more stoked! It’s everything I wanted and more. Thanks Apple! Keep up the great work Steve.
