Icons are in transparent PNG format, black color & 32*32px in size.
Their colors can be customized easily as a group using layer styles & applying “Color Overlay” in Photoshop. For Fireworks, simply apply “Filters → Adjust Color → Color Fill” and choose your color.

If you want a nice way to convert pixels to em’s than pxtoem.com is a great resource. You can pick your base body font size in px and then generate a CSS based on your selection. Pretty cool tool and a great way to learn about em’s.
