I’m finally taking steps to launch the new studio, CreationCloud. There’s a long company set-up TODO list, but there are also clients that need web design, web development, e-marketing and print ready creative work. Time to push some pixels and kick some ascii!

Please stop by CreationCloud once in a while and let us know if you need ANY creative “From The Cloud For The Cloud.”

Flash Charting. Open Source. Too Cool.

Here is a great Open Source project called Open Flash Charting. I don’t have a lot of need for flash charting in my current projects, but I can totally see a great value in the project. I like how the developer points out that he used to use a paid version of a similar product but got frustrated by the companies lack of support and just decided to learn Flash and ActionScript and build it himself with the help of the community. Excellent!

Weekend Winterizing Projects

Since it’s nearing the end of October that typically means snow is soon to fall here in Colorado. This means everyone starts to winterize their homes and I’m no exception. So this weekend is the weekend of winterizing tasks. 1. Mow the lawn short for the dormant winter ahead. 2. Fertilize with Scotts Turf Builder WinterGuard. 3. Blow out the sprinkler lines so they don’t expand and break. Very important. 4. Trim all the shrubbery and hedges down so the snow build-up doesn’t collapse them. So now you know what I’ll be doing this weekend, what are you doing this weekend?

I’m planning on porting my site over to Mephisto which runs on Rails. I’ll be using my current mediatemple (gs), gridserver, for hosting of course and I found a great tutorial for integrating mediatemple (gs) hosting, using their ruby containers, with Mephisto over at Softamade as well as a great tutorial on Running Mephisto on OSX.

So I bought my first RoR book, Agile Web Development with Rails. I’m just starting to dig into it. All my RoR resources have mentioned to me that I should get this book so I’m following there guidance. There is even a PDF version of the book available for those who prefer that option.

Get with the times. Move to RoR! Or at least look into it. I’m going to be posting a few resources for RoR noobs like me.
